Who we are
ScapePathis an independent Old School RuneScape (“OSRS”) progression companion that helps players decide what to do next. This policy applies to the ScapePath website and its features. ScapePath is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Jagex Ltd.
Information we collect
We keep data collection deliberately narrow. Depending on how you use the site, this may include:
- Account information. If you create an account, we store the email address associated with your sign-in and a display name. Authentication is handled by Supabase (see below).
- Linked OSRS profile data.If you link an OSRS character by RuneScape name (“RSN”), we retrieve your public skill levels, experience and boss/activity scores from the official OSRS Hiscores and store snapshots to power your dashboard, recommendations and progression tracking.
- Content you submit. Goals, progress check-ins, owned gear, event participation and messages you send through our contact form.
- Usage and device data. Aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics about page views and general device/browser type, collected via Vercel Analytics.
- Advertising data.Google and its partners may set cookies and read device identifiers to serve and measure ads (see “Advertising and cookies”).
We do not ask for, and you should never send us, sensitive personal information, financial details, or your Jagex/RuneScape password. Linking a character requires only your public RSN.
How we use your information
- To generate personalized progression plans, recommendations and dashboards.
- To display your linked OSRS stats and track progress over time.
- To operate features you opt into, such as goals and Skill of the Month events.
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To understand aggregate usage so we can improve the site.
- To serve and measure advertising that helps keep ScapePath free.
Advertising and cookies
ScapePath uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Cookies and similar technologies are central to how ads work:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to ScapePath and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
For more information about how Google uses data when you use our site, see Google’s partner-sites policy. We also use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as light/dark theme.
Third-party services we rely on
We share the minimum data required for these providers to operate on our behalf. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and saved data.
- Vercel — website hosting and privacy-friendly Vercel Analytics (aggregate traffic measurement).
- Google AdSense — advertising delivery and measurement.
- OSRS Hiscores (Jagex) — the source of the public character data you choose to link. We read from it; we never send it your data.
Data retention
We keep account and progression data for as long as your account is active so features like progress tracking remain useful. Contact-form messages are retained as needed to handle your request. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see “Your rights”).
Your rights and choices
- Access and deletion. Request a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- Unlink your character. Remove a linked RSN at any time to stop new Hiscores snapshots.
- Advertising choices. Manage personalized ads through Google Ads Settings as described above.
- Cookie controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break sign-in.
To exercise any of these rights, use our contact page and choose the “Privacy request” topic.
Children
ScapePath is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.
